Taking Jesus at His Word

The past two times that I have taught something (church staff & our discipleship group), I taught on "Taking Jesus at His Word."  In John 4 we find a story of a royal official whose son was close to death, so he went to Jesus and begged Him to go to his house and heal his son.  However, Jesus tells the man to go home because his son had been healed.  Here's the interesting point; In v.50 the text says, he took Jesus at His word and departed.  This royal official, who was not a follower of Christ, took Jesus at His word and departed.  This man accepted the word of Jesus. This unbeliever received Jesus' word as truth and went home believing that his son was healed.

How many of us take Jesus at His word?  How many of us accept the Word of God as the Truth and go in faith believing it to be so?  Unfortunately a lot of us know what the Word says, but we don't always take it as the Truth for our lives and/or circumstances.   However, there are 7,874 promises given to man in the Bible and when God makes a promise, history shows us that His promises always come to pass.  So let's start taking God at His Word and let's start believing that what He says is true and will come to pass in our lives.

Let's follow this man's example and see what God will do in and through our lives!
